Individual and family counseling services for adults, adolescents, and couples facing issues such as depression, anxiety, conflict, loss, divorce, and life transitions are some of the areas of focus you will find among our clinicians.
There is no “typical” client issue at Bridger Peaks Counseling & Recovery Service. We don’t box people up that way because we understand that there are a variety of reasons people choose counseling. Perhaps the vision you had for your life doesn't match the reality. Perhaps you are having a tough time adjusting to a new stage of life or a move; loss of a loved one or are or dissatisfied with you job or a career. Maybe that “tough time” has even created panic attacks and anxiety.
Whatever your particular reason for seeking counseling, Bridger Peaks' therapists can help you build the life you want to live. Our therapists will guide you in identifying and understanding the nature of your challenges, help you replace unhealthy coping mechanisms with self-enhancing ones, and help you find a greater sense of well-being and fulfillment.
When a couple comes to Bridger Peaks for marital therapy, there’s often a thick wall with very specific bricks that are dividing them and preventing them from hearing one another and connecting. Part of our job, as we see it, is to help the couple appreciate and understand the bricks that make up that wall and how they formed. Fear and hurt often loom as classic components.
Every couple has its own specific challenge. And, although no two couples are the same, there is this unifying challenge around intimacy and how to be connected and stay connected. There is no cookie cutter approach to couple’s work. We help couples use the inevitable problems with sex and intimacy to help them grow present time consciousness in relationship to one another.
TBD - The Daring Way™ workshop is designed to help participants develop shame resilience skills and the daily practices that transform the way we live, love, parent, and lead. This workshop is based on Dr. Brené Brown’s exciting 14 years of grounded theory research on shame, shame resilience, the power of vulnerability, courage, and connection and is led by a Certified Daring Way™ facilitator-Candidate and Certified Rising Strong™ facilitator-Candidate. It explores topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness.
Rising Strong Workshop™ - This workshop is based on the research Dr. Brené Brown presents in her book Rising Strong. The physics of vulnerability is simple: If we are brave enough, often enough, we will fall. This workshop is about the getting back up. Rising Strong: The Reckoning, The Rumble, The Revolution teaches us what it takes to get back up and how owning our stories of struggle gives us the power to write a daring new ending. Struggle can be out greatest call to courage and the clearest path to a wholehearted life.

Group counseling is a process in which 4-8 clients meet with 1-2 group leaders once a week for 1.5 hours to address a variety of issues including substance abuse/relapse prevention, improving self-esteem, & enhancing coping skills.
Research has found that a few of the therapeutic factors that influence change from this type of therapy include instillation of hope creating a feeling of optimism, group cohesiveness giving members a sense of acceptable, belonging, security and value, & catharsis, which releases suppressed emotions and promotes healing by disclosing information to group members.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic intervention developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro to address traumatic stress.
EMDR has been used to treat a wide range of troubling negative experiences, from extreme incidents like rape, combat accidents, natural disasters and crime, to loss of a loved one, having an angry or alcoholic parent or being the victim of bullying, teasing or emotional abuse.
Since traumatic experiences can play a role in many problems, EMDR can also help with depression, anxiety and phobias, fears related to medical procedures, sexual problems, chronic pain, sleep problems, learning difficulties and performance anxiety.
