MEGAN PENNEL

MSW, LCSW, LAC

In my perspective, therapy and the journey toward healing should epitomize a genuine collaboration, tailored specifically to cater to your unique and personalized requirements. It's essential that the therapeutic process is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor but rather a dynamic partnership, where your voice, experiences, and aspirations are valued and integrated into the treatment plan. By embracing this collaborative approach, we can navigate the complexities of your emotional landscape together, ensuring that every step taken is meaningful and directed towards your holistic well-being. I believe the cornerstone of effective therapy lies in the therapeutic bond created between the therapist and client. I am dedicated to nurturing and enhancing this relationship throughout every phase of treatment, recognizing its significance in facilitating growth, trust, and meaningful progress.

I have been in the social work field for over a decade and have experience in treating a diverse range of clients, from children to adults. Throughout the years, I have gained experience in a variety of settings including residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, community mental health, outpatient treatment, and virtual therapy settings. Holding dual licensure in mental health and substance use disorders, I specialize in treating co-occurring conditions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and guiding individuals through life transitions, particularly in older adolescents and adults. While I am trained in various treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, my treatment approach typically combines supportive therapeutic techniques with structured interventions, ensuring that you experience tangible progress and valuable insights.

I graduated from the University of Idaho with my bachelors in Psychology, and received my Master's degree in Social Work from Arizona State University. Over the past several years, I've discovered my true passion in providing outpatient care for individuals struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. I grew up in North Idaho and after living in various states, found myself closer to home in Montana. I enjoy living in such a beautiful state and spend the majority of my free time enjoying the outdoors with my family and two dogs.
